The AI/GI/CRV 2012 Conference

Travel Information

The local organizing committee welcomes you to the 2012 AI/GI/CRV Conference in Toronto, Ontario. The conference will take place at York University, which is located in Toronto, the capital of the province of Ontario. This section contains information on visa requirements for entry into Canada, transportation, and tourism. We hope you enjoy the conference and your stay in Toronto.

Visa Information

You may need both a passport and a visa to visit Canada on a temporary basis.
Information on visas and entry requirements to Canada is available from Immigration Canada at 1-888-242-2100 (in Canada) or visit Immigration Canada's Web site for instructions on who needs to apply for a visa. From outside Canada, you can also contact the nearest Canadian Embassy, High Commission, or consulate in your region.

Invitation Letter

If you need an invitation letter for the purposes of applying for a visa, please contact John Barron (AIGICRV2012 General Chair) at barron@csd.uwo.ca. Note that the invitation letter will be provided to authors only. For an invitation letter, the following information is required:
  1. Name and mailing address as it appears on your passport
  2. Registration confirmation number
  3. Title of accepted paper(s)
  4. Fax number and email address
Attendees should plan their travel well in advance. Please allow at least 2 weeks for the letter to be received, especially for overseas requests. Please plan accordingly.

Transportation

York University is located in Metropolitan Toronto. Toronto is serviced by two airports, Pearson (YYZ) and Billy Bishop (YTZ). Pearson is slightly more convenient to York. Access to the city from Pearson is either by Taxi/Limo (approximately $50), by bus (approximately $25) to the downtown core, or via public transit (the TTC) ($3).

Local Transportation and Parking

York University is on the north boundary of the city, located at the intersection of Keele and Steeles at 4700 Keele St.. The campus is served by a number of different transit systems Directions to the university via each of these transit systems can be found here. A map of the campus itself can be found here. There is ample, if expensive, parking on campus. Parking rates are given here. The Student Services Parking Garage (SSB) is close to the conference site.
